New Triumph Scrambler 900, 1200X and 1200XE Models Take Centre Stage
Triumph’s significant Icon Edition collection has resulted in the Scrambler range receiving three new models
Like the new Icon Edition Bonneville range, Triumph has given his Scrambler range a tickle for the future, but with a nod to the past.
The Scrambler 900, 1200X and 1200XE models will all feature highlights of the first Triumph logo from 1907 while also receiving Sapphire Black and Aluminum Silver colour combinations.
The Triumph logo has undergone several changes since its inception, and the Icon Edition collection is a nod to the past while also looking to the future with its three new Scrambler models.
The Scrambler 900, which is the smallest-capacity motorcycle of the three maintains a lot of its standard DNA, including its Bonneville engine, meaning it has a parallel twin layout and like the Bonneville T100, it can be converted to suit riders with an A2 licence.
It produces 64.1bhp and 59Ib ft of torque, is fitted with Metzeler tyres, and consists of 41mm forks with cartridge damping and 120mm travel, while the rear suspension features twin shocks with adjustable preload and 120mm rear wheel travel.
Brakes include a single 310mm floating disc, Brembo four-piston fixed axial caliper, while the rear set-up features a single 255mm disc, Nissin two-piston floating caliper.
Where Triumph’s Scrambler Icon Edition Models get very tasty is with the 1200X and 1200XE motorcycles.
The X model does not feature adjustable front suspension but the XE does thanks to its premium Marzocchi set-up. The XE comprises Marzocchi 45mm fully adjustable forks with 250mm wheel travel. The rear Suspension features Marzocchi twin RSU’s with a piggyback reservoir and is fully adjustable, again with 250mm wheel travel.
The X model, released just one year ago, features a Bonneville engine as does the 1200XE, producing 89bhp and 81.1Ib ft of torque - the same figures as the XE version.
Triumph’s aim with the new Modern Classic collection is to maintain its “enduring reputation for original style, high quality, premium finish and modern performance,” says Triumph Motorcycles’ Chief Commercial Officer Paul Stroud.
