Pricey Honda RC164 Stella Timepiece Launched
The limited edition watch is to commemorate 60 years of the world’s best-sounding motorcycle, the iconic Honda ‘Six’
It's been 60 years since one of the most famous, and certainly best-sounding motorcycles Honda ever created rolled out of the factory gates.
The bike in question is the now legendary Honda RC164, more commonly referred to as the Honda Six. The bike was designed to elevate the Honda brand in the world of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, a job it succeeded in doing, with riders like Jim Redman behind the bars during the golden era of motorcycle racing.
To help celebrate the bike’s legacy, not just as a winning machine but as a turning point for the entire Japanese motorcycle industry, Honda Japan has authorised the Swiss watchmaker Baresi & Caine to create just 60 examples of this commemorative watch.
The watch features a stainless steel case, bezel and case back, along with a black Onyx dial and 18ct yellow gold Honda ‘wing’ motif and rotor. The mechanism is an in-house BC102MR Automatic Micro Rotor, boasting 70 hours of power reserve, while the strap is completed with a stainless steel and 18ct gold clasp.
With genuine Honda RC164s changing hands for nearly half a million quid, the watch from Baresi & Caine looks like a relative bargain coming in at just *checks press release* £28,000 - gulp. Those looking to invest in one will have to slap down a £14,000 deposit, but as an extra sweetener buyers will also bag a copy of the beautiful book Honda Six - Recreating a Masterpiece when they place their order. So at least you’ll have something to read while waiting for your watch to arrive.
