Tarran Mackenzie has put distance between himself and team-mate Jason O’Halloran in the fight for the 2021 British Superbike Championship (BSB) by winning Race 2 at Donington Park.

The Scot picked his way through the order to get the better of long-time leader Danny Buchan in the closing stages before sprinting onto the flag aboard the McAMS Yamaha.

A timely seventh win of the season, Mackenzie’s win came on a difficult start to the day for team-mate Jason O’Halloran, with whom he shared the lead of the overall standings coming into the race.

However, their respective results hands Mackenzie an 18 point advantage over the Australian with four races remaining from the 2021 BSB season.

Buchan held onto second place, with Christian Iddon rounding out the podium, while Gino Rea proved his wet weather win on Saturday was no fluke with a strong run to fourth in dry conditions too.

Lee Jackson completed the top five as Kyle Ryde continued his strongest weekend of the year in sixth position, ahead of Tommy Bridewell - who has slipped back in the title fight now - Andrew Irwin, O’Halloran and Glenn Irwin.
