BSB: Haslam and Mossey stay at JG Speedfit Kawasaki for 2018

JG SPEEDFIT Kawasaki will take on the 2018 MCE British Superbike championship with an unchanged rider line-up of Leon Haslam and Luke Mossey.

Haslam, who currently leads the BSB riders’ championship by 22-points heading into the penultimate round at Assen, has turned down the chance to return to World Superbikes with Puccetti Kawasaki to stay in BSB with the factory Kawasaki squad.

Mossey, who stepped up to BSB with the team in 2015, has been retained having clinched his maiden race wins this year before narrowly missing out on the Showdown due to injury.

Haslam said: “I am really excited to continue the relationship with JG Speedfit Kawasaki and everyone involved with the team for next year.

“It has been a good season so far and to be able to progress with the structure we already have in place and work with Kawasaki is exciting as we know we have a winning package. We can focus on refining areas over the winter and then in testing so we can keep moving forward and it can only get even better in 2018.”

Mossey said: “2018 will be my fourth consecutive year with Pete and the team and it is great to have such continuity, I can’t thank them enough for getting me to the position I am in now.

“There were a few of us who started the season strongly and that is how we can start next year too.

“I know that we are title contenders and if it hadn’t been for the mishap at Thruxton we would be fighting for it now. We will come back even stronger at the opening round in 2018 and I intend on ending the season on a high.”

Team boss Pete Extance said: “It’s an exciting time for myself and the team with us being able to release the news we are retaining both of our current riders for the 2018 season along with our title sponsor JG Speedfit.

“Leon and Luke have worked hard this season and we feel that we have improved the bike package during the year so hopefully we are in strong position with the Kawasaki ZX10RR for the final two Showdown rounds and we are already preparing for the 2018 season.

“It’s great to keep the continuity of the riders but just as important is the sponsor and we are all pleased to have JG Speedfit on board for the 2018 season; whether we are defending a title or chasing one, we will be ready for the 2018 Showdown and title fight.”
