Jason O’Halloran once again left it until the last moments to pounce for victory in the third and final race of the British Superbike Championship opening weekend at Oulton Park, completing a hat-trick of victories.

The Australian, who came into the weekend with four career BSB wins over the past decade to his name, leaves it having added three more on a single weekend in a perfect beginning to his title aspirations on the McAMS Yamaha.

As was the case in race two, O’Halloran spent much of the encounter shadowing the Ducati of Christian Iddon, who led from the start. However, he used that time to size up his rival before grabbing the initiative on the last revolution as they approached Island.

With Iddon unable to respond, O’Halloran was left to complete victory over his rivals to secure a full complement of 75 points. Iddon completed a brace of second place results, while a determined performance by Tommy Bridewell saw him clinch third on the Oxford Products Ducati Panigale V4 R, holding off Tarran Mackenzie.

Peter Hickman completed the top five, well clear of Josh Brookes, whose title defence began with a trio of low key results that put  him on an early back foot.

Lee Jackson was again the best of the Kawasaki contingent, from Danny Buchan, Ryan Vickers and Glenn Irwin rounding out the top ten.
