Scott Redding completes a clean sweep by topping every practice session at Snetterton in the Bennetts British Superbike championship
Scott Redding has completed a clean sweep of topping every practice session at Snetterton in the Bennetts British Superbike championship.
The Be Wiser Ducati rider, who dominated Friday practice ahead of his competitive debut at Snetterton, produced an early flying lap in FP3 of 1m 47.739s to move clear of his BSB rivals by over one second.
But the ex-MotoGP rider’s session was prematurely cut short by a suspected engine issue leaving him with just nine laps completed in the session.
Tarran Mackenzie came closest to toppling Redding on the McAMS Yamaha, going 0.519s off Redding, but did edge out Smiths Racing BMW’s Peter Hickman by 0.052s who had to settle for third place.
Andrew Irwin, who made his BSB debut at Snetterton last year, impressed for Honda Racing in fourth place ahead of Knockhill race one-winner Danny Buchan on the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki.
Luke Mossey was shuffled down to sixth place after setting his best lap early on for OMG Suzuki but kept ahead of Josh Brookes on the second Be Wiser Ducati.
Jason O’Halloran (McAMS Yamaha), Tommy Bridewell (Oxford Products Ducati) and Hector Barbera, standing in for the injured Glenn Irwin at Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki, rounded out the top 10.
It was a disaster session for Danny Kent who failed to complete a lap after being shown the black and orange flag for a technical issue with his Bike Devil Sweda MV Agusta.
