CryptoDATA RNF will not be racing in the 2024 MotoGP season, it’s been confirmed.

The axe fell on the team just hours before it was due to hit the track for the first pre-season test at the Valencia circuit in Spain, and this now means that its riders, Miguel Olivera and Raul Fernandez, could be without spots on the grid for the coming season.

The news comes after swirling rumours of financial troubles, an American takeover, and majority shareholder Razlan Razali announcing he was leaving the team just before the final round at Valencia.

MotoGP organisers are not on the lookout for a replacement team to take to the grid next, with both the riders, a number of the staff and the bikes set to be transferred to the new independent team.

The full statement from the MotoGP Selection Committee reads:

“The MotoGP Selection Committee, comprising members of FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports, have decided not to select the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team for the 2024 season.

“Repeated infractions and breaches of the Participation Agreement affecting the public image of MotoGP have obliged this decision.

“The Selection Committee will be reviewing applications for a new Independent Team, using Aprilia machinery, to join the MotoGP class grid for 2024.

“More information on this matter will follow in due course.”

This is a breaking story and we’ll update this page as new information comes to light.
