Jonathan Rea has retained top spot on the timesheet at the end of the first day of pre-season testing at Portimao with Alex Lowes the nearest challenger.

Kawasaki Puccetti’s Toprak Razgatlioglu continued to impress by ending the day fourth fastest ahead of factory BMW’s Tom Sykes, who preferred to focus on its extensive testing programme with the new S1000RR, while his team-mate Markus Reiterberger ended the day 12th respectively.

European pre-season testing concludes tomorrow at Portimao before the World Superbike paddock heads to Australia for the 2019 season-opener at Phillip Island on February 22-24.
