Rare 2002 Carl Fogarty-Signed Ducati Monster 1000 S4 Costs £12K

Carl Fogarty was the face of British motorcycle racing in the 1990s, winning four WorldSBK titles, all of which came aboard Ducati machinery.

Still the Italian brand’s most successful rider when it comes to world championship wins, Fogarty’s influence, not only on two-wheel racing in the UK, but on the Ducati brand as a whole was very evident.

And it still is the case as various Ducati models, personally signed by the former four-time world champion, have either gone up for auction or have been sold individually. And this 2002 limited edition Monster 1000 S4 ‘Foggy’ is the latest to become available.

Personally signed by Fogarty at 2014 Classic Bike Show, the bike comes with photographic evidence of him signing the 916cc motorcycle which has 3194 miles on the clock. The bike is number 128 of just 300 that were ever produced. But while Fogarty brought significant interest to racing in the UK, 75 of the bikes were sold directly to the United States when the original selling of the bike, which took place over the internet, occurred.

The bike is littered with highlights of Fogarty’s presence, with his signature on the tail unit behind the rider’s seat. There are also ‘Foggy’ Ducati patches on the side of the tank while the top of the tank features his signature once again, a number one plaque and a number 1 sticker on the bottom of the tank.

The bike features gold Brembo brake calipers, front and rear, while it is also fitted with a Termignoni exhaust. Showing no sign of slowing down when it comes to impressive features, the exhaust cover is made of carbon fibre.

It also features a speedometer and rpm dual dashboard, and has a single headlight at the front which is positioned just under further personalisation as Fogarty’s signature is included between British and Italian flags.

Its two-cylinder engine produced 101bhp and 67.8Ib ft of torque when new, and the chassis boasts a Showa 43mm upside-down adjustable fork on the front, while the rear suspension comprises an adjustable Sachs monoshock and aluminium swingarm.
