The recent Macau Grand Prix never actually took place, yet Davey Todd was crowned the winner after securing pole position, but one of the biggest stories was the crash that hospitalised Matt Stevenson.

Heavy rain was the cause of the race failing to get underway, while the warm-up session on Saturday evening was also called off. Earlier in the day Stevenson was the cause of a red flag when he suffered a very high-speed crash directly into the wall.

From his hospital bed, Stevenson then shared an update on his condition while also showing the incident.

Despite the nasty whack against the wall, Stevenson walked away without any serious injuries which given the speed he was going at, is a miracle.

Stevenson said this on his social media account: “Gnarly footage from my off… shows how much I remember, I didn't think it was off half that speed. Very very lucky to have pretty minor injuries after seeing that. Sorry for scaring everyone! It looks horrendous! I've ridden past similar scenes and your heart sinks!”

Potentially saving Stevenson from a serious injury or worse was the fact he appeared to collide with a softer air fence before hitting the wall, although his bike was completely wrecked as a result of the impact.

The Macau Grand Prix was another in a long list of historic road racing events to suffer from poor weather in 2024 after the Isle of Man TT had to cancel several of its racers due to rain. That was also true about the Manx GP event.

Despite the race not actually going ahead, Todd was crowned the winner on his first weekend as a FHO Racing BMW rider, with whom he will contest the road racing and BSB seasons in 2025.
