SuperMotocross Rider Beats Brother to Huge Payout
SuperMotocross rider Jett Lawrence has edged out his brother Hunter, winning the world title and a payout of $1m dollars
Australian phenomenon Jett Lawrence wrapped up his seventh championship win in as many years, after edging out brother Hunter Lawrence, who he was tied with following the postseason.
A tiebreaker was needed to determine a world champion and it was Jett Lawrence who managed to get the upper hand. As if written in the stars, the final round was held at Las Vegas on the famous Strip and Lawrence took victory which was his second during the playoff run.
As a result of his victory in Sin City, Jett Lawrence prevailed over Hunter thanks to his two playoff wins in three rounds, but while it handed him the title over his brother, there was much more at stake between the two siblings as a $1m dollar payout was awaiting the victor.
Speaking after his win, the 21-year-old Aussie said: “I think that’s the best start I ripped all year. Hunter obviously ripped a good one as well so it was good but also it stings a bit. Because it was against my brother and I want to see him win too.
“But we’re both out there so it’s a bit difficult. If he would have won it that would have been a really good rookie season to win it all in 450, and it would have matched mine too because in my rookie season I won it all. But I’m sorry big bro.”
In the lower class there was success for YouTube sensation Haiden Deegan who captured his second consecutive world championship in the 250SMX division, earning half a million dollars thanks to his success. Deegan’s racing success is no surprise given it runs in the family as he’s the brother of Nascar driver Hailie Deegan and freestyle motocross rider Brian Deegan.
