Thieves have caused havoc for one-armed racer Chris Ganley, who had ambitions of converting some of his motorcycles for disabled riders.

Ganley runs a motorcycle training school in Cheltenham, and despite the awful theft, the business has continued to put riders through their CBT training.

The incident took place on Sunday, June 22, when Ganley was away from the premises competing in a race meet at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough - doing so on his converted race bike.

The thieves stole four Yamaha MT-07 motorbikes and two brand-new MT125 machines. The two MT125 bikes reportedly had less than 50 miles on the clock.

As well as stealing motorcycles, the criminals gained access to the safe and took several belongings such as keys to the bikes and money.

Local police are investigating the matter, while a Just Giving page has been set up by a fellow racer and friend of Ganley, which has already exceeded £2,000, which was the goal to help lessen the impact on his business.

A statement from Ganley, courtesy of his CC Motorcycle Training page on Facebook, read: “So I have been working incredibly hard to build a riding school which is the best training to the students and bet bikes I can afford, it’s been a hard time building this, I’ve just started building bikes for disability which is not offered as a training school, I’ve just received a call from the police saying my lock up and garage has been broken in, disabled bikes and the normal bikes have been stolen, keep your eyes open please and let me know, this is filth people who have stolen from a disabled man making a living, there will be more information to come.”
