Triumph has just pulled the wraps off the long-awaited 450 version of its motocross project, as the TF 450-RC Edition is officially revealed.

The bike, which will be available from Triumph’s motocross & enduro centres from February 2025, has been developed by Ricky Carmichael, who, alongside multiple world enduro champion Iván Cervantes, has helped to shape the specification and graphics of the machine.

Claimed to have the strongest power to weight ratio in the 450 MX class, the bike is powered by a single-cylinder four-stroke SOHC 449.5cc engine. It features a 95mm bore a stroke of 63.4mm and a compression ratio 13.1:1. Feeding the new 450 is a Dellorto throttle body which is governed by an Athena engine management system. Power to the rear wheel is via a five-speed gearbox with a hydraulic master cylinder.

The chassis of the bike, one area that will have been receiving a lot of attention from Mr Carmichael, is built around an aluminium spine and twin-cradle frame which is mated to an aluminium swingarm. The front suspension comprises a KYB 48mm Fork which is adjustable for compression and rebound damping adjustment, and offers 310mm of travel. The rear of the bike is suspended by a KYB shock which is adjustable for compression (high and low speed), and rebound adjustment. The rear shock provides the rider with 305mm of travel.

The braking system of the bike is taken care of by Brembo, with twin calipers at the front that are paired with Galfer 260mm discs and a Brembo caliper and 220mm disc at the rear. Both front and rear brakes are matched to Brembo master cylinders. Rounding out the chassis spec is the inclusion of D.I.D DirtStar rims and the bike rolls on Dunlop Geomax MX34 tyres.

As you’d expect, there is a ready-made raft of additional parts that can be added to increase the performance of the bike. These include a titanium Akrapovic exhaust, which comes with a dedicated engine map, a WiFi module for track-side engine adjustments, air filter covers and much more.

The new TF 450-RC will be landing in Triumph motocross and enduro centres from February 2025 and has a list price of £10,695.

More information on the new model can be found on the official website.
