Recently we learned that a new Hornet 1000 Bol d’Or edition could be arriving in Honda’s range, and it had us in mind of another retro-styled, big capacity four from the Japanese brand - the CB1100 which was discontinued in 2022.

Prior to the EX model landing on the market in 2017, the CB1100 was the first of its kind and was first introduced in 2010 after an early concept of the bike initially made its way into the limelight in 2007. The CB1100 was built as a successor to the CB750 and this version of the bike is a 2013 model.

The engine is a powerful 1140cc, air-cooled inline-four and churns out 88.5bhp. The 2013 CB1100 was updated with wire-spoked wheels and a double-skinned 4:2:2 exhaust system in 2014.

The 2013 CB1100 was first introduced in Japan, Australia and New Zealand before finding its way to Europe and the United States shortly after. The bike available from Superbike Factory is a five-gear machine, with only models made in 2014 onwards receiving a sixth gear. The EX/Deluxe version of this bike was released in 2017 and was upgraded with new front and rear LED lights.

The front brake consists of a double four-piston caliper and the rear is a single-piston caliper. The fork is adjustable for preload which is the case for both the standard and EX CB1100, while on the rear the suspension consists of twin shock absorbers - can also be found on the EX as well as the standard bike. The max torque of the CB1100 is 67.1Ib ft.

If I’ve grabbed your attention but you want a little more convincing about whether to put down the required pennies for this bike, then we have a review of the 2013 CB1100 model which you can read in full here. It’s fair to say that the bike was a hit in all regards, whether that be aesthetically, sitting on the bike or twisting the throttle for a leisurely ride.
