The 2025 American MotoGP will see not one but two teams donning different liveries after Trackhouse Racing confirmed a change from its Gulf livery that was used in Thailand and Argentina, but VR46 have followed suit.

Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP team will run a special one-off livery for the American GP at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Texas on Sunday. The VR46 squad will ditch its familiar white-and-fluorescent yellow colourway, which was introduced before the 2024 season, with minimal changes taking place for 2025.

Instead, the new one-off livery will feature a darker appearance that also uses the famous stars and stripes design from the US flag.

Fabio di Giannantonio and the team’s 2025 addition Franco Morbidelli, who claimed the first podium of the year for VR46 last time out in Argentina, will use the new livery in Sunday’s main race only on their respective Ducati bikes.

According to VR46 the new paint scheme has been inspired by the National Football League (NFL) and its blue riband event, the Super Bowl.

The NFL is the most popular sport in the United States and in some states is the be-all-end-all, so this livery could go down as a favourite for the American fans, especially in Texas, as two teams play in the state, including the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.

VR46 had already announced its plans to introduce a surprise livery change earlier in the week, but it was only on Thursday that we saw the team take the covers off the American Football-inspired livery.
