Woman Finds New Lease of Life By Becoming a Biker and Overcoming Cancer
A lady by the name of Samantha Brooman has beaten cancer and since continued her motorcycling journey as part of her next steps in life
She had intended to raise a family and live a very different life, but cancer meant Samantha Brooman was in for a battle she never expected, however, after overcoming it, her amazing story has now led to her continuing with motorcycling.
Just one year ago (March 2024), Samantha was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, which changed her life plans drastically. After various fertility treatments, setbacks and heartbreak, the pair realised that raising a family would never happen, but their continued love for bikes has helped them through the tough times.
When it became clear that raising a family would sadly not happen, Samantha and her husband went to the ABR festival in 2022, and that’s when her love for two wheels really started. She decided to hell with just being a pillion, as she began her journey into motorcycling by getting her licence and 125 bike, a bike that was a cheap investment on eBay.
After catching the bug that is two wheels, Samantha was not interested in an A2 licence that restricts your choice of bikes, so she instead went straight for the full A licence to have the option to ride whatever she wanted.
After two attempts at both the Mod1 and Mod2, Samantha had claimed her full licence before rocking up at the ABR Festival in 2023, this time as a fully-fledged motorcycle rider.
After that, Samantha went on to buy a Kawasaki Z650 and named it Connie before riding across Europe with her husband and friends. A Honda CRF250 for trail riding was bought soon after that as the love for two wheels continued to grow, but then came March 2024, when she found out that she had cancer.
Treatments started, and by the ABR festival 2024 Samantha was halfway through her chemotherapy. Against the odds, Samantha powered through her battle with cancer and is now back riding on two wheels.
Speaking about her biking history and battle with cancer, Samantha said: “I’ve taken Connie to every blood test. I've ridden her throughout my treatment. I’ve gone to various places with her and Mike. I’d say that being on the bike and being at the ABR Festival gave me the fight when chemo and cancer had stolen it all.”
Everyone at Visordown is pleased to hear of Samantha’s amazing recovery and continued love for bikes.
