Insta360 X4 BMW Motorrad Edition launching soon
The new Insta360 action camera is being limited to just 2,000 units worldwide, and features a host of exclusive features
Insta360 has tightened its ties to BMW Motorrad with the launch of a new limited edition, exclusively branded X4 BMW Motorrad Edition.
Insta360 and BMW began working together in 2023, becoming the official action camera brand for the BMW Motorrad World Superbike team in late 2024. The new X4 BMW Motorrad Edition looks to celebrate this partnership, making the new camera a must-have for Beemer aficionados.
Visually the new X4 is instantly recognisable, featuring BMW Motorrad graphics on the case of the camera and the included soft neoprene carry pouch. It also features BMW graphics on the boot-up screen, which is a nice touch. Alongside the new look, the new X4 also includes new and updated features designed exclusively for those capturing content on two wheels. Two of these new features include a license plate blurring mode and a dedicated Dashcam Mode.
The new dashcam mode will be a handy feature for those who spend long periods of time on the road, providing a safety net by recording what is going on around them in 360 degrees. Unlike a traditional dashcam, which utilises a loop recording feature, the X4 can reserve a specific slot of memory card space (either 5, 10, 20, or 30 per cent) which will be used solely for dashcam capture. When recording in this way, the X4 will automatically overwrite the oldest file, ensuring that even with a small capacity memory card all of the action can be captured.
Another new feature is the number plate blur option, which, as you can probably guess, blurs out your and other road users' number plates. It’s worth noting this is an optional feature that can be turned on and off via the Insta360 app.
These features are in addition to the standard features of one Insta360 action camera, meaning you still get 8K 360-degree video capture. This allows you to film everything around you and then reframe it later, either in the mobile app or on your laptop computer. It also features Insta360’s FlowState Stabilization, which keeps the horizon level and means the footage is smooth, whatever the terrain.
So, the Insta360 X4 BMW Motorrad Edition is more than a simple co-branding exercise, and to find out how it performs, we’ll be testing one over the 2024/2025 launch season.
Stay tuned for the full review.
Insta360 X4 BMW Motorrad Edition will be available globally starting November 6th.
