Visordown takes a closer look at the new MILANO 1999 collection, which is a blend of elegant, Italian style and modern technology.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Tucano Urbano, and to celebrate, the Italian brand has launched a winter collection designed to commemorate twenty years of innovation, urban style, and development.

The MILANO collection is made up of three CE Class A-approved jackets, which include:

  • The SCALA, a three-quarter four-season car coat

  • The BRERA, a medium cut field jacket

  • The ISOLA, an all-weather short cut jacket

Supporting the jackets is a special edition carbon-fibre jet helmet, aptly named the CARBON; an innovative backpack perfect for the urban traveller, the SMART PACK; and CE-certified thermal gloves, the WAGNER. The gloves have been designed for use with a remote control for automatic entry systems.

SCALA

Suitable for year-round wear, the three-quarter length SCALA jacket features a removable inner jacket with polyester thermal padding and a windproof closure on the cuff, as well as being made with tough Taslan polyamide outer shell with a waterproof, windproof and breathable inner membrane.

BRERA

Slightly shorter than the SCALA jacket, the BRERA is a medium-cut, modern field jacket. It comes with a removable, thermal-padded inner jacket, as well as a light mesh lining with a drawstring waist. There’s comfortable shoulder and elbow armour with a pocket for an optional back protector.

The minimalist design and mid-length gives the jacket a smart look on and off the bike, so no need to change between ride and work.

ISOLA

The ISOLA jacket is the most casual out of the three, with a modern look perfect for on and off the bike. It’s fully CE-approved with shoulder and elbow protection, plus a pocket for a back protector. The ISOLA is made with resilient 2.5-layer Taslan polyamide outer shell that is also waterproof, windproof and breathable. Inside, there’s a removable thermal jacket with a knitted inside neck and exposed windproof cuffs. The hood is removable, and all three exterior pockets feature water-resistant zips.

CARBON

To mark its 20th Birthday, Tucano Urbano has introduced the CARBON Special Edition jet helmet. It’s retro-inspired, smooth-domed, ECE-approved, and made with a high-performance fibreglass composite (HPFC) shell with visible 3K carbon fibre. The helmet features two visors; a concealed polycarbonate inner sun visor, and a long, anti-scratch transparent visor with a pre-setting for a Pinlock®70 lens. The inner is lined with high impact absorption, dual-density EPS for safety, as well as a double-D closure strap [by far the most secure strap system out there]. For comfort, there’s plenty of space around the ears, as well as detachable and washable cheek pads, plus an Aero 3D mesh and microfibre inner for breathability.

We love the attention to detail on this helmet - especially the touches of gold that gives it a classy, retro look.

SMART PACK

Perfect for the urban traveller, the new SMART PACK allows riders to stay organised whilst protecting their belongings from the elements with its water-repellent polyester exterior and integrated waterproof cover. There are two main compartments, one of which is for a laptop.

It’s clear Tucano Urbano have really thought about convenience on two wheels with this backpack - there’s removable chest bands, space for a U-lock type padlock, and a helmet holder spring clip. For comfort, the shoulder straps are made from a non-sweat Aero 3D mesh.

WAGNER

The WAGNER gloves are designed to be used with a remote control for automatic entry systems. They’re weather and abrasion-resistant and feature a 100% waterproof inner membrane as well as Thermolite® padding. There’s CE-approved CPS protection on the knuckles with an anti-abrasion insert on the palm. Made with a 2.5-layer polyamide on the back, there’s also a real goatskin leather palm and microfibre lining for a refined feel.
