Used Review: Alpinestars Sphere Jacket
Alpinestars Sphere Jacket used review
This Alpinestars Sphere jacket was purchased at a very reasonable £200 from J&S in New Malden last summer. In actual fact it was a bit less as they knocked 10% off due to a voucher you could print off from their website. Despite me having no idea about this at the time. What lovely people.
It’s no longer in the current Alpinestars collection but still looks the business. I have fairly broad shoulders and it’s a great fit for me. Protection wise, the shoulder and elbow armour feel snug but allow lots of movement. The back protector is no more than a token gesture so I swapped it for an old spare one I had.
With two external pockets and a large internal, there is plenty of room for a mobile, wallet and keys.
The jacket has a 3/4 length zip which connects to Alpinestars trousers although I only just got past scrutineering when wearing this at Brands Hatch recently as the connecting zip was not ‘full length’.
The only downsides are the arm vents which, although are extremely affective at letting cool air in, also let water in at the first hint of a grey cloud. Which happens when I’m on a bike. A lot.
So despite having the option of a thermal liner, I mainly wear this jacket when it’s warm. Hopefully I can put it on again soon.
