Motocross race starts are always risky, and the second moto start from last weekend’s MXGP of Italy showed how wrong it can go

The HRC rider crashed in the final race of the Internazionale d'Italia series in February, but returned to winning ways at the MXGP of Turkiye last weekend.

A second new winner in succession, a second Yamaha winner in succession, but the 2022 MXGP of Spain did not go the way the home fans wanted.

This weekend the MXGP World Championship heads to Spain for the ninth round of the 2022 season at the Xanadu-Arroyomolinos circuit in Madrid. 

Round eight of the 2022 MXGP World Championship threw up unexpected winners, and contrast between the two Grand Prix classes. 

Domination from Tim Gajser in Maggiora in the absence of his main rival only strengthened his grip on the 2022 MXGP title at round seven.

The MXGP World Championship rolls back into Italy this weekend, and the legendary Maggiora Park, but one of the major protagonists will be missing. 

The Motocross World Championship returns to action this weekend, with the first trip to the Agueda circuit in Portugal since 2019.

TIM Gajser arrived in Argentina having won both the first two Grands Prix of the season, and left with a third 2022 MXGP victory.
