Affordable New Shark OXO Flip Front Revealed

The new Shark OXO is the only flip-front showing in the current Shark UK range

Just in time for Christmas, Shark has announced its latest helmet, a sleek-looking flip front called the OXO. And I’m going to do my best to keep any gravy-related puns out of this news story - but I can't make any promises.

The new lid will fill the gap in the range left by the GT Evo, Shark’s other modular lid, the GT Evo. The helmet becomes Shark’s first to be certified to ECE 22.06 P/J-approved, meaning it’s certified when used as a full face, or while the chin bar is flipped back. In the flipped position, the OXO effectively becomes a high-spec jet-style helmet, complete with an anti-scratch VZ390 visor.

That visor is said to provide the rider with a wide field of view, and locks down with a central tab. It’s also Pinlock 70 compatible and one is included in the box. Like many of Shark’s offerings, the OXO also features an inbuilt drop-down UV380 sun visor. The OXO has two shell sizes, along with six EPS foam liner options covering XS through to XXL.

To keep things fresh and cool when the chin bar is in the locked-down position, the lid features two adjustable intake vents, one on the top and one on the chin. The vents can be partially opened, allowing the user to accurately meter the airflow into the lid. And should things get a little too warm in winter, it’s all gravy (sorry!) as the OXO features a liner that is treated with an Aegis anti-bacterial treatment, and the entire lining material is created from a recycled fibre material. The liner also features a quick-release cheek pad system and is completely removable and washable.

The new lid is priced from £319.99 (RRP)

The new helmet is also compatible with Sena’s Bluetooth units, which can be added to the OXO as an option after purchase. At the time of writing, there isn’t a dedicated product with a ready-installed Bluetooth system, as was the case with Shark GT Evo N-Com.

The Shark OXO is in stock (geddit?) now, and can be ordered via the Nevis website. Prices start at £319.99 and there are 12 colourways on offer covering blank and graphic options.

You could even buy one for a loved one as a Christmas gift and Bisto them with a very nice lid for 2025...

I'll get my coat.
