Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy to feature Troy Bayliss at Goodwood Revival

The 2025 Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy race at the Goodwood Revival is set to feature several big names, including former WorldSBK champions Troy Bayliss and Carlos Checa.

The annual event will see riders take part in teams of two, and the race begins with a Le Mans-style start, with riders running to their machines before getting underway.

Official practice will begin on Friday, September 12, with a 30-minute session before riders take part in two races which will be split into 25-minute sessions. The first of those will take place on Saturday 13, and the other on Sunday 14. Both races will be aggregated to determine the overall winners.

This year’s event will see the entire grid line-up on classic machines that were built between 1948 and 1966. Motorcycles such as Norton’s Manx 30M and the Matchless G50 are set to feature, while other vintage models from the likes of BMW, Vincent and MV Agusta will be in action.

Despite his recent motorcycle-related accident, which left him hospitalised, Bayliss is expected to compete at the event. The former three-time WorldSBK champion revealed he injured seven ribs, his collarbone, and suffered a punctured lung in the incident. Details of the type of accident Bayliss had or what bike he was riding remain unclear.

Joining the likes of Bayliss and Checa at the 2025 Goodwood Revival are current British Superbike racers Leon Haslam and Tommy Bridewell, former MotoGP and WorldSBK rider Eugene Laverty, and many more.

The 2024 race saw Michael Russell and Michael Rutter take the win on a Norton Velocette MSS, despite qualifying in 27th place.
