A head-on crash that claimed the lives of two men near Great Yarmouth is being linked to the theft of the motorcycle which took place just hours before the incident.

An orange Sinnis motorcycle collided head-on with an Audi TT at around midnight on Friday last week, 16 August. The people mounted on the bike, one reportedly aged 44 and the other 31, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A police statement has since confirmed that officers responded to reports of the theft of the same motorcycle at 22:53 on 16 August, with an officer heading to investigate shortly after. A search of the area of the theft was undertaken, although no sign of the bike or the assailants was found.

It was only around half an hour after the theft that the crash took place, claiming the lives of the pair. The incident took place at 23:30, with the car and bike colliding on the Acle Straight area of the A47. The driver of the Audi TT was taken to hospital with what the BBC reports to be “minor injuries” and that they were later discharged.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash or the moments that led up to it, and are especially keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage.
