BMW Gets Rid of 2025 GS Trophy UK Qualifier
BMW UK has confirmed it will not be heading to the GS Trophy in 2026 and has cancelled its UK qualifier that was scheduled for September

BMW has confirmed it will not be taking part in the International GS Trophy competition in 2026, and as a result the 2025 UK qualifier has been cancelled.
The event was set to take place between 5-8 September, however, a change to the structure of the 2026 International GS Trophy means that no UK team will be featured.
The UK qualifier has traditionally been held at the off-road Walters Arena, Wales, and as part of the event riders of all skill levels are welcome to take in a variety of on and off-road challenges. There are also team building activities, navigation, and much more for attendees to do.

But that will not be the case in 2025 as BMW has confirmed a hiatus with the hope of running UK qualifiers in the future.
A letter was sent out by BMW Motorrad UK to customers that had already booked a spot on the weekend, saying: “Unfortunately BMW Motorrad UK are unable to send a team to the 2026 GS Trophy, therefore we will be taking a hiatus for 2025 and will look to run a GS Trophy qualifier should the option be available to us in the future.”
Participants are usually expected to ride their own bike during the tarmac portion of the event, with off-road GS models then provided by the BMW-backed Off Road Skills team. The best riders subsequently qualify for the International Trophy, with the 2024 edition taking place in Namibia.
BMW UK has been running the GS Trophy UK Qualifiers and GS Challenge events since 2010. As a replacement for the cancelled GS Trophy qualifiers, BMW is offering additional off-road skill courses.
UK customers that were booked on now have the choice between receiving a refund or booking onto the additional courses, which include a Level Two Foundation on 5 and 6 September.
