Set to arrive in European dealers this June, the 2025 Ducati Desmo450 MX has been fitted with a desmodromic engine and a completely new traction control system.

Ducati recently revealed the price of its new Desmo450 MX, which will cost UK customers £11,245. The Borgo Panigale brand also confirmed which dealerships are taking on the bike, which include Ducati Cambridge, Ducati Leeds, Ducati Preston, Ducati North London, Chris Walker Motorcycles, GT Motorcycles and Millsport Motorcycles.

But now we have the technical details to go along with that, starting with the bike’s single-cylinder 449.6cc engine with Desmodromic valve-train. The system is used on all of Ducati’s racing bikes, including the Desmosedici GP motorcycle that is currently being raced by Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia in MotoGP.

The new Desmo450 engine produces 62bhp at 9,400rpm, while also delivering a maximum torque of 39.4Ib ft at 7,500rpm. The rev limiter intervention aboard the Desmo450 MX is set at 11,900rpm, which Ducati claims is a new benchmark for the category.

With a bore and stroke measurement of 96 x 62.1mm, Ducati has been able to use 40mm intake valves and 33mm exhaust valves aboard its first-ever dirt bike. The Intake valves are made from titanium, while the latter are machined from steel.

The chassis of the Desmo450 MX is based on an aluminium perimeter frame, which has been introduced to make the bike as lightweight as possible. It also allows the engine to have intake and exhaust ducts as straight as possible. In ready-to-use form, but without fuel, the Desmo450 MX weighs in at just 104.8 kg.

The frame of the Desmo450 MX is made up of only 11 pieces, which is said to be around half the number compared to its competition, and it is composed of cast, forged and extruded elements.

For its suspension, Ducati has opted for Showa, and the front fork is fully adjustable, with 49mm inverted stems, 310mm of travel and Kashima Coating on the stanchions. The shock absorber is also fully adjustable, while the wheel travel is set at 301mm at the rear.

Regarding the braking system, Ducati is once again relying on its long-term partner, Brembo. At the front is a two-piston floating caliper, while a single-piston caliper is found at the rear. Galfer brake discs are 260mm at the front and 240mm at the rear.

Additionally, the electronic equipment aboard the new bike includes Launch Control and Engine Brake Control, which can be adjusted to different levels of intervention and is associated with two Riding Modes that the rider can adapt to his needs and to that of the track via the X-Link App. The gearbox is equipped with a quickshifter as well.

“Over the past 18 months many people have asked me why Ducati decided to enter the world of professional off-road racing. The answer is simple: Ducati is a healthy company that generates resources, therefore has the opportunity to grow by opening up to a new segment of enthusiasts,” said Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding.
