An adventure tourer by name, and a very good one at that, the Puig ‘Pista’ kit has given the BMW R1300 GS a look we couldn’t have envisioned, and my oh my, does it look good in its new sporty attire.

The brake discs, painted boldly in yellow, will draw your eyes to the front of the bike, but the entire bodywork kit from Puig has given it a completely revised look. Smaller wheels have also been added to this R1300 GS model, which produces 143bhp at 7,750rpm thanks to its 1300cc, air/liquid-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine, while also churning out 110lb ft of torque at 6,500rpm.

The new-look R1300 GS is not alone in featuring a sporty look aboard its big-bore frame, as it looks very similar to the German brand’s M1000 XR model, which is also true if we compare its aesthetic appearance to S1000 XR.

The dynamic-looking R1300 GS was showcased at last month’s EICMA trade show in Milan and included Rotobox carbon wheels shod with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tyres. It also consists of bigger 320mm front brake discs from Galfer and an Arrow exhaust system for a sweeter sound.

Those same parts that are used above by the GS can be had from other individual manufacturers for other bikes, however, the exclusive Pista kit itself from Puig has not been made available at this point despite being presented in finished form, due to still being in the pre-production stage.

The kit also features a revised mudguard in order to make way for a smaller front wheel and tyre, a tank cover, rear cowl, pillion seat cover, belly pan and lower spoiler.

Side-mounted deflectors can be opened or closed to increase or decrease leg ventilation, and a new widescreen unit, which is an area of expertise for Puig, has been introduced that should reduce turbulent airflow to the rider.

Puig has also fitted new brake cooling ducts to drive fresh air to the brake calipers at the front. The boxer twin has also benefited from the industry’s heavily focused aero trend, as a pair of downforce-inspired winglets are visible.
