Carl Fogarty Reveals Why He Chose to Make Racing Return
Carl Fogarty has revealed why he chose to make a surprise return to racing in a managerial role with a new Ducati BSB team

Carl Fogarty will lead a new Ducati BSB team in 2026 as the former four-time World Superbike champion has revealed why he took the plunge back into a managerial role.
Fogarty was once involved in the role of team principal when he led the Petronas Foggy FP1 project in the early-to-mid-2000s. However, this will be Fogarty’s first foray back into that role in over a decade as he leads a Ducati project that will race under the Superbike Advocates Racing Team banner.
A four-time world champion, with all those titles coming aboard Ducati machinery, Fogarty has spent most of his racing career with the Italian marque.
The rider line-up for the new Ducati team, which will run Panigale V4 BSB-spec bikes, has not been confirmed, although it's likely at least one ‘big name’ rider already competing in the British Superbike series will join the team.
Speaking about how the new deal all came about, Fogarty told BritishSuperbike.com: “It came about through a bit of a chance meeting with [Superbike Advocates Racing owner] Lee Khouri’s right-hand man in the UK, he looks after his business affairs.
“He came to the Classic Bike Show last year; he brought some Foggy merchandise, funnily enough, and my guy who runs the merchandise stall, Tony, was saying that ‘Carl’s maybe looking to get back into racing, getting back into being involved with a team’.
“He said ‘I work for this guy in Australia who runs a Superbike team and he’s a big fan of Carl and he wants to run a team in the UK as well’. So, that’s where the initial conversation started. We spoke over the winter and he was really up for it and really wanted to do this, and here we go – all systems go for 2026.”
Fogarty also went on to discuss expectations for the team and the British legend admitted winning races in the team’s first season is the aim, saying: “Our intentions are to be very fast from the off, to be challenging for the wins straight away with the team that we’ve got, with the experience of the Jackson Racing team; with the Ducati – a proven winning bike – and myself”.
“The image of the bike, the team – everything is going to look right, we’re going to have a strong presence there, we really are.”
There’s no news yet as to when the first time Fogarty’s new Ducati team will be on-track, although that will likely be at the end of the 2025 season when pre-season testing for 2026 begins.
