Carlos Checa is helping to raise funds for the Community of Valencia charity as it looks to rebuild after devastating floods last year.

The former MotoGP rider had a long career in the top class, racing in the 500cc two-stroke and four-stroke eras. Winning two MotoGP races, and with a best championship finish of fifth in the four-stroke championship, Checa is best known for his World Superbike exploits, where he amassed 24 wins and a championship crown in 2011.

Now retired from racing, Checa is looking to help his native country by raising funds to assist with rebuilding efforts after devastating floods hit the Valencia region in the Autumn of 2024. To do that he’s teamed up with his long-time helmet supplier, Nolan, and created a very limited-edition helmet that he has signed and which will now be auctioned off.

The helmet is the track-focused X-804 RS Checa 30TH Anniversary Limited Edition, and there are just 30 examples set to be produced. Making this item even more special is the fact it has been signed by the MotoGP and WorldSBK racer, probably making it more of a shelf queen, than your go-to lid for taking to the track!

The winning bidder will get number 1 in the run of 30 helmets, while they will also get a meet and greet with Checa at the Nolan HQ in Italy, where they will also take part in a guided tour of the factory. All the costs of food and accommodation for the winner and one friend will be covered by Nolan - although you’ll have to get yourself to Bergamo under your own steam.

At the time of writing the lid is sitting at £3,315, meaning the reserve price of £4,000 has not yet been hit. The auction is running until January 19 and more information can be found on the official website.
