Royal Enfield is on course to produce a new Interceptor at some stage this year, with the first-ever 750 model spotted testing on the streets of India.

An undisguised test mule was seen out on the roads for the first time ahead of a launch that, and here’s what we know about the bike. First up, it gets a new, more powerful and torque-rich 750cc parallel-twin engine that is substantially bigger than the current 650 model. It’s believed to produce 50bhp and 44.2Ib ft of torque.

In terms of the design the new Interceptor 750 is very similar to that of the 650, with only minor tweaks expected. Those do however include a new LED tail light and circular LED turn indicators. Although small changes, the LED headlight layout makes sure that Royal Enfield’s retro styling remains intact, while still providing ample visibility.

Alloy wheels were used on the test mule and could find a way onto the model ones, but aside from some styling details, much is unchanged including the fuel tank and side panels.

The new Interceptor 750 will also feature a dual brake disc set-up at the front, which is different to the single-disc that’s used on the 650 model. The suspension system includes telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers in the rear giving off the same appearance as that of the new Bear 650.

A key feature that is part of the new Interceptor 750 is its new 5-inch circular TFT display that’s also used on the Himalayan 450. The inclusion of the system means the new Interceptor could also end up with turn-by-turn navigation, phone calls and music if the rider is using a Bluetooth headset.

Pricing is unconfirmed although it doesn’t take too much of a stab in the dark to suggest it will cost slightly more than the Interceptor 650. The news of an Interceptor 750 comes just a couple of months after rumours of a bike based on the Continental GT 750 being in the works.
