Chinese-Built 2025 KTM 790 Adventure Replaces 890
KTM’s recent run of introducing new bikes as part of its 2025 lineup has continued with a revised 790 Adventure model, which supersedes the outgoing standard 890 but the 890 R remains in the lineup
Set to back up the 890 Adventure R, KTM’s new 790 model will serve as a more affordable option, but don’t be fooled… It still features plenty of nice touches including a brand new suspension set-up which leads its list of upgrades for 2025.
Not only is the 2025 model an upgraded version of the previous generation 790, which also received updates for this year, but it will supersede the standard 890 Adventure bike.
For 2025, the new 790 Adventure comes equipped with adjustable 43mm WP APEX open cartridge front forks and a WP Apex shock absorber that’s directly descended from items found on the KTM 890 Adventure, along with two new colourways.
At the front, the bike includes split function technology that separates the compression and rebound damping between the two fork legs, with adjusters found on the top cap of each fork leg. This generates a more precise set up to suit a wider variety of riding scenarios, both on and off-road.
The adjustable WP APEX shock absorber provides 200mm of travel and features a rebound damping adjuster, along with a remote adjuster for the spring preload to allow for easier adjustments.
Featuring a liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine with a displacement of 799cc, the new KTM 790 Adventure produces 94bhp and 64.1Ib ft of torque. Braking consists of dual four-piston calipers at the front, and a two-piston floating caliper and single disc at the rear.
Alongside the off-road riding mode, you can also choose a ‘Rally Mode’ when riding on the dirt tracks. The new 790 Adventure features both ABS and MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control). Pricing and availability have not yet been disclosed by KTM but we expect it to be cheaper than the 890 R model.
