Deal of the Week: Save £3.5k on Stunning Norton Commando 961 SP
With an appetising price drop of £3.5k, this brand new Norton Commando 961 SP features in our deal of the week
It started at over £17k, but this brand new Norton Commando 961 SP has seen a HUGE price drop and is now available for a tempting £13,671.
Norton holds a very special place in a lot of British motorcycle riders' hearts, and the Commando is a bike that’s steeped in history since the model’s unveiling in 1967. It set a new standard for British motorcycles, winning ‘Machine of the Year’ for the next five years.
When we think about modern British motorcycles, it’s easy to look at Triumph and be impressed, as well you should. But that doesn’t take away from the impact Norton has had throughout its history, and that remains the case today.
If you’ve never owned a Norton but want to open your wallet and splash out on this beauty of a machine, this is what you would be getting. In true SP fashion, the bike is littered with the very best equipment, starting with Ohlins suspension on the front and rear of the ‘Manx Silver’ bike. It also has aluminium wheels, Brembo brake calipers, a 15ltr fuel tank, a stainless steel exhaust system, and an air and oil-cooled twin-cylinder engine that churns out 76.8bhp. That retro-looking engine is cradled in a hand-welded frame which is matched with billet machined fork yokes and Dunlop sportmax tyres.
The history of Norton goes back a long, and I mean a long way. Not quite to the times of Dinosaurs, but you get the point, they have a long history and have been through ups and downs. Financial turmoil factored into its ups and downs, but they’ve remained popular and respected throughout. Built in 1898, Norton produced the first-ever production superbike, that being Commando 961.
This is what Norton describes the Commando 961 as: “The Commando 961 is the ultimate modern classic because it combines what we all want; timeless looks, unquestionable performance and a soundtrack rescued from a bygone era. But at Norton we know that not all motorcyclists are the same, which is why we have the 961 Sport and the 961 Café Racer.”
Norton is also steeped in history for its racing prowess, as it took victory in the inaugural Isle of Man TT race in 1907. During our review of the 2023 Commando 961, we highlighted how impressive the bike was and you can check out our full Norton Commando 961 review here.
