Five-Year-Old Unofficially Breaks Top Speed Record For a Child

No, it’s not a joke. Kenan Sofuoglu’s son has unofficially become the fastest child in the world

Zayn Sofuoglu, son to five-time World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu, has reached unprecedented speeds for a youngster.

Zayn, who was famously spotted driving a Ferrari at a Sofuoglu’s Karting track in Turkey at the age of three, has taken his exploits to new levels by driving a V12 Lamborghini at 194mph (313kph), and no, I’m not pulling your leg, this really happened. Whether it should be allowed to happen is totally up for debate if you ask me, but like his dad, Zayn seems to have a fearless spirit within him that shows no signs of slowing down, no pun intended.

Zayn’s new record is yet to be verified, but Kenan is claiming its the fastest top speed ever recorded for a child. Zayn seemingly has the type of skills on four wheels that many could only dream of - then again do five-year-old’s dream of driving Lamborghini V12 cars at 194mph, probably not - but he has also shown his skills on two wheels and seems to be destined for some type of racing or stunt career.

His father Kenan, manager of World Superbike star Toprak Razgatlioglu, is a former five-time Supersport champion and remains the most successful Turkish rider at world championship level.

Sofuoglu won his first title in 2007 when riding for Honda, securing 8 wins out of 13 races. His next two titles came in 2010 with Honda before claiming his first title with Kawasaki in 2012. His championship wins were back-to-back given he didn’t compete in the 2011 season. Sofuoglu remained with Kawasaki for the remainder of his racing career, winning back-to-back titles again in 2015 and 2016.

Very famous in Turkey due to his success, Sofuoglu has already been overtaken by his five-year-old on social media, which is somewhat disturbing to say the least. That said, it seems clear that Zayn has a big future ahead of him although he will have to wait another 13 years if he wants to become a grand prix racer.

To drive an F1 car he would need to wait 12 years as the eligibility is 17 instead of 18 years of age.
