If watching anti-social riders getting their comeuppance is your thing, this clip is a peach and it’s all thanks to TikTok

The moment a nuisance biker from Darlington gets arrested has been captured on film, as Kane Tilney gets cornered and arrested by Durham Constabulary.

Running up to his arrest, Tilney left police a trail of breadcrumbs… actually, no, entire loaves of bread-sized evidence thanks to the dim-witted divvie posting his exploits on the King’s Highway all over the social media app TikTok.

Clips were posted on his profile showing him and his friends wheelieing bikes around built-up and residential areas and pedestrian zones. Tilney and his friends can also be seen riding without helmets in pretty much all of his videos. Obviously, with such a treasure trove of evidence against him, it wasn’t going to take long for his activities to catch up with him and he was arrested in February 2023 with a rap sheet of around 20 alleged offences including dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving with no insurance, and failing to wear protective headgear. Tilney, of Salisbury Terrace, Darlington, was also charged with assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening and abusive words or behaviour.

Once the police did catch up with him, which you can enjoy in the clip above, Tilney admitted the offences and appeared at Teesside Crown Court on November 10, where he was sentenced to 12 months in prison, which was sadly (but unsurprisingly) suspended for 24 months. He was also disqualified from driving for two years. He was also ordered to undertake 200 hours of unpaid work and pay £100 compensation.

Speaking at the time of the conviction, Inspector Matt Plumb, from Darlington Neighbourhood Police Team, said:

“Tilney is a prolific offender who has plagued the streets of Darlington with his dangerous and illegal riding.

“By filming himself committing these offences and uploading them to TikTok, he clearly thought he was above the law and could do what he liked – but it ultimately led to his downfall.

“PC Paul Foley from the town team invested a significant amount of time and investigative effort to gather extensive evidence to charge Tilney with these offences and put him before the courts, where he had no choice but to plead guilty.

“I hope this result shows that we will not tolerate this type of offending and will do everything we can to tackle these people and bring a stop to their offending.”
