Custom bikes | Royal Enfield x Ironwood Motorcycles: ‘The Starship Meteor’
Giving a bit of custom bobber flair to the accessible Meteor 350, Royal Enfield and Ironwood Motorcycles combine to give us the ‘Starship Meteor’.
Launched in 2020 in some markets, but 2021 in the UK, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has almost instantly solidified itself in the market as an accessible, fun, and easy-going cruiser.
So when Ironwood Motorcycles of Amsterdam got their hands on one, they knew they wanted to stay true to the Meteor roots but provide a generous helping of style at the same time.
It’s the first full custom Meteor 350 that Royal Enfield has been involved with, and the Custom Program lead by Adrian Sellers promises plenty more where that came from.
Finding its unique name through space and Meteor connotations, creative director and founder of Ironwood Motorcycles Arjan van den Boom took inspiration from his love for Star Wars, transforming the style of the Fireball Yellow Meteor 350.
And to underline his passion for the bike, upon delivery he instantly took to the streets of Amsterdam to truly understand the riding dynamics in order to better guide his ideas for customisation.
“As the riding position is already super comfortable and balance is refined, we want to retain as much of the original Meteor DNA as possible.” says Arjan “Our goal was to give the Meteor a helping of our unique Ironwood sauce and an overall beefier appeal through some performance parts upgrades, but to ensure the core Meteor identity shone through.”
Visually your eyes are drawn to the ‘Meteor Rain’ paint job on the tank, completed by Royal Kustom Works, and accentuated by “black fork gaitors, black supercross handlebars, custom fenders, the fat chunky rubbers from Continental, and the piggyback shock absorbers from YSS all compliment[ing] this gnarly look.”
Arjan continues “The CNC seat post, our signature floating bobber seat, further adds to the overall custom look of the motorcycle and the diamond pattern on the seat upholstery has all been finished by hand by Miller Kustom Upholstery.”
“The Biltwell grips, Motogadget indicators on the front and the Kellermann 1000DF rear lights, together with the custom piping breathing through an Akrapovic muffler results in a stunning little Urban Cruiser that packs a punch well above its weight.
"Every time when you fire up this air-cooled one cylinder engine a throaty growl emerges from the race exhaust and makes you just want to hit the roads. Mission accomplished!”
Stunning work, love the bobber style on this.
