Video: Deadpool 2 stunt rider’s deadly crash aftermath

VIDEO footage shows the aftermath of a stuntwoman’s fatal motorcycle crash on the set of Deadpool 2.

Witnesses say the rider lost control and crashed through glass in Shaw Tower, Vancover, after performing the same stunt successfully four times.

Global News footage shows the wreckage of the Ducati Hypermotard lying outside the building following the crash yesterday morning.

One witness told Global News: “People were running on the sidewalk, the motorcycle comes flying across the street, looks like from a ramp because it was in the air.

“[The rider was] standing on the bike, slams into that building, clearly hit and out of control and clearly not planned.”

The stunt rider, whose name has yet to be released, is believed to have been acting as a double for Zazie Beetz, playing Domino, The Guardian has reported.

A police statement said: “Vancouver police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool during a stunt on a motorcycle.”

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox said: “We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds wrote on Twitter: “Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool. We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated ... but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them - along with each and every person she touched in this world.”
