Honda is looking to bolster its off-road rally racing programme, with a new venture meaning more official CRF450RX Rally bikes could be fielded in 2025.

The move means that Honda will be supplying specialist Italian firm RedMoto with kit parts for rally machines competing in top-level rally events, such as the Dakar, Rallye du Maroc, and Africa Eco Race.

The parts will transform a standard bike into a CRF450RX Rally, complete with a host of special parts and equipment. Included in the list of parts are upgrades to the suspension, with new springs and components which are titanium-coated to reduce friction. Front and rear fuel tanks are fitted, boosting the capacity to 36 litres. Each bike will also be fitted with a carbon fibre rally tower which is joined by an expansive carbon fibre sump guard.

Other upgrades include new triple clamps which are joined by Renthal handlebars, Acerbis handguards, new switchgear, LED lighting and new front and rear plastics including mudguards, side panels, and seat unit.

The engine of the bike is still a liquid-cooled single-cylinder, although adaptations have been made to help it tackle the extremes of off-road rally racing. In this specification, it produces a claimed 58bhp, while its long-ratio gearbox is said to help reduce engine stress and fuel consumption at top speed - which is a claimed 100mph. The engine is also fitted with an oversized radiator to help keep the package cooler in high temperatures.

In Rally spec the CRF450RX has a towering 990mm seat height, but considering all the adaptations only tips the scales at 138kg (wet no fuel), around 28kg more than its un-modified sibling. For more information head to the RedMoto website.
