Fermin Aldeguer’s drawn-out wait to see where he would be placed for the 2025 MotoGP season is officially over.

Initially expected to join Pramac earlier this year, that soon changed when the Italian team announced its departure from Ducati to Yamaha. That left Gresini and VR46 as the two options for the young Spaniard. With Marc Marquez leaving Gresini for the factory Lenovo squad, and Franco Morbidelli part of the VR46 academy - ultimately led to Morbidelli being signed alongside Fabio Di Giannantonio - Aldeguer’s options quickly dropped to one.

Gresini has now confirmed the news, meaning Ducati’s 2025 line-up is now fully complete. Francesco Bagnaia and Marquez will be in red, Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli at Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team and Aldeguer alongside Alex Marquez at Gresini.

“I’m extremely happy to be joining the Gresini family; this is an incredible opportunity to make my MotoGP debut with the best bike on the grid and with a fantastic team that has had plenty of iconic riders,” said an elated Aldeguer.

“I hope to get to grips quickly with the GP24: we’ll need to approach it step by step, but I cannot wait for the first test of the new season in Valencia. I’d like to thank Nadia and Gigi for their trust, which will be repaid.”

Aldeguer will be one of three riders riding this year’s GP24 which looks set to win the title in the hands of either Bagnaia or soon-to-be Aprilia rider Jorge Martin. The other two will be Morbidelli and Alex Marquez. On the GP25 will be Bagnaia, M. Marquez and Di Giannantonio.

Aldeguer’s two-year deal puts him on the same contract duration as team-mate A. Marquez and both factory riders Bagnaia and M. Marquez. Aldeguer is one of two Moto2 riders making the jump to MotoGP, the other being Ai Ogura with Trackhouse Racing, while Somkiat Chantra is also expected to become a 2025 rookie by signing for LCR Honda in place of Takaaki Nakagami.
