A Honda GB500 Could be in the Works
Just a few weeks after the GB350S was confirmed to be arriving in the UK, a trademark shows that the US could be first to receive a new GB500 model from Honda if it goes into production
The Honda GB350S has been in high demand for a long time, but if the GB500 arrives as rumours suggest it might, even as early as sometime in 2025, then it could become the new go-to within the Japanese brand’s retro range.
Now, the GB350S that’s arriving in the UK is a little bit different than the models in other markets, and that same motorcycle is unlikely to be landing in the United States, although a bigger GB500 could be set to do just that.
An intriguing trademark application has been registered and on the form, presented by Honda Motors Corporation, the mark of the bike listed is a GB500, not a 350. The trademark form is from earlier this month and is a US Patent.
The GB350 had long been clamoured for by us Brits since its inception in 2020, so having the retro-styled GB350S land in UK dealers from January 2025 felt long overdue. However if a GB500 does come to fruition it might not be long before we’re asking for the same.
But what would a GB500 look like?
In terms of style, not that much different from the current GB350S that will arrive in the UK, we suspect. A slightly larger engine would be one of the most obvious changes. Something along the lines of a 525cc displacement could be expected because of a report from Japanese outlet Young Machine, which at the launch of the GB350S in Japan noticed an exploded engine on display.
This would put the GB500 model alongside the CB500F, CB500 Hornet and CL500 in Honda’s middleweight motorcycle range.
