Kawasaki Elektrode 20 Available to UK Buyers
The Elektrode range of kids' bikes were US-only, although a new 2025 model has just landed on the Kawasaki UK website
Kawasaki has finally decided to share its electric balance bikes with the UK market, as the Elektrode 20 lands on the brand’s website.
We’ve known about the Kawasaki balance bikes for some time, first reporting on them in June 2022, although at the time of that article going live, the funky machines were only available to customers in regions outside of Europe.
That changes this autumn though, because Kawasaki has just slipped the Elektrode 20 onto the website - just in time for Christmas. Like the already-released US-spec bikes, the Elektrode 20 is a true balance bike, with no pedal-assist function and instead, all the power is sent to the rear wheel, with the speed controlled via a traditional twist-grip.
Powering the new bike is an air-cooled, brushless motor mounted in the rear wheel. It is fed by a 50.4V, 10.2Ah lithium-ion battery which is mounted in the frame. The battery and claimed to have a charge time of around four hours and run times are dependant on load and how hard the bike is being ridden. The bike has power and speed modes, low (13mph), medium (24mph), and high which has the same top speed as medium but with more aggressive acceleration.
Helping to prevent your offspring from going full Evel Knievel through the flower beds on day one of their riding career are mechanically operated disc brakes, which are 160mm in diameter at each end. These are matched by a 28mm telescopic fork at the front with a hardtail frame configuration at the rear.
The frame of the bike is an aluminium diamond design, which features a seat which is adjustable from 550 to 693mm. The total weight is 20.9kg, meaning it’s more than easy enough to sling in the boot of the car when you want to head to the track.
Really the only piece of information we don’t have for the Elektrode 20 is the price. Currently, on the Kawasaki UK website, it’s showing as TBC. We can tell you that on the Kawasaki North America website, it’s showing an MSRP of $2,599 (around £1,950) and we’ll update this page once the UK price is known.
More information can be found on the Kawasaki UK website.
