KTM Group Recalls Nearly 20,000 Bikes in North America
The timing of the recall can only be described as terrible for the KTM group's Husqvarna and GasGas brands

A recall has been issued by KTM, affecting more than 20,000 bikes on the North American continent - and the timing of it couldn’t be any worse.
Of the things you really could do without while trying to steady a company financially, a recall of more than 20,000 bikes is right at the top of the ‘We Could Really Do Without This’ list. Nonetheless, that is the situation in North America right now, as around 19,310 Husqvarna and GasGas bikes are being called back to dealerships, with approximately 3,870 also being recalled in Canada.

The recall began as a smaller action affecting fewer bikes, although it seems to have come to light that the number of models potentially affected by it could be much bigger. The problem stems from the front brake caliper, which, according to the notes on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website, could crack, “reducing the braking system’s effectiveness, posing a crash hazard”.
The recall only affects off-road models built in the years 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, and to find out quickly if a bike is affected, the tenth letter of the VIN should be checked. On recalled bikes for 2022, ‘N’ will be tenth, 2023 will be ‘P’, 2024 will be ‘R’, and for 2025 it will be ‘S’.
Should your bike be one of those affected, KTM North America urges you to stop riding immediately and to take your bike to the nearest authorised GasGas or Husqvarna dealer to schedule a free inspection and free repair if necessary.
While there is extensive component sharing across the KTM, GasGas, and Husqvarna brands globally, it doesn’t look like the recall affects any bikes in the UK, as there are currently no recent recalls listed for the UK region relating to the brake in this manner. For further clarification, speak to your nearest KTM, GasGas, or Husqvarna dealership.
You can check out the recall on the CPSC website here.
The full list of recalled bikes can be found below - as you can see, it’s pretty extensive.
