Michael Laverty has confirmed plans to enter his MLav Racing project in the 2025 Isle of Man TT and North West events, and he will do so with road racing veteran Ian Hutchinson as one of his riders.

The former BSB racer and now MotoGP TV personality for TNT Sports has been doing his punditry duties alongside ownership of the MLav Racing project in Moto3.

A team that Laverty built from the ground up, the former British racer has been working as a pundit for TNT Sports alongside fellow ex-racers Neil Hodgson and Sylvain Guintoli before deciding to begin the MLav Racing team in 2021 ahead of its world championship debut in 2022.

But Laverty is taking his project to the roads in 2025 with two of the biggest events already lined up. Laverty’s team will field BMW machinery for 16-time TT winner Hutchinson as well as new team-mate and podium finisher at both the TT and North West, Mike Browne.

Speaking on the TNT Sports coverage for last weekend’s Argentina MotoGP, Laverty said: “We are putting a team in the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200 this year.

“We will have a couple of quality riders on board... It will be Ian Hutchinson and Irish rider Mike Browne. So, we will hopefully be officially announcing it in the next week or so.

“We will be on BMW powered machinery, I am working on the livery at the moment and one of the deadlines is today for RST leathers to produce the suits in time for testing.”

A 14-year veteran at the Isle of Man TT, Hutchinson endured a difficult 2024 campaign as he failed to challenge for top five positions on any occasion at the legendary mountain course.

Browne, who made his TT debut in 2019, has become one of the up-and-coming stars of road racing as he looks to build on his podium finish during last year’s second supertwin race.
