Phil Bollinger was the rider who landed head first into a culvert and Jason and Ben Koperski, in Wyoming. The two family members were out hunting Elk as they arrived on the scene to save Bollinger’s life.

Jason Koperski claimed to have seen the edge of the rider’s boot, who was trapped under his motorcycle following a crash when attempting to avoid a deer.

“I was trying to keep my motorcycle on the road and make sure nobody was beside me,” Bollinger told Cowboy State Daily. “I didn't notice that there was a culvert that went underneath the road for drainage. Then I hit a rock that stopped the bike immediately and threw me off to the left, toward the road.

“I landed in the culvert with my head going towards the entrance of the underground drainage.”

Bollinger, who was out cruising through a scenic mountain pass, came across a herd of deer before hitting a gravel patch and falling into the culvert.

The American added that he could reach his phone despite being stuck but had no service before luckily being rescued by the Elk hunters.

In a lot of pain and in need of medical attention, the local sheriff managed to find the motorcycle rider but not before an hour had gone by since the call was made. An ambulance arrived 30 minutes later before a medical helicopter followed shortly after.

“You couldn't get a Hollywood stuntman to recreate the way that happened,” said Jason Koperski. “You’re talking about a 3-foot diameter culvert, and he dived into it headfirst going 25 mph. There was no way that we were going to move him because you’ve got a possible spinal.”
