At EICMA Kymco took the opportunity to unveil their latest range of scooters including the new CV3
The historic Taiwanese motorcycle brand Kymco came to EICMA with a large range of new scooters to release. One of the standout scooters that was announced was Kymco’s first three-wheeled scooter, the CV3. Three-wheeled motorbikes may not be a brand-new concept with brands such as Yamaha and Gilera already having entered this market, but the arrival of Kymco’s CV3 is an exciting one.
The CV3 is apparently no different to other Kymco scooters when it comes to comfort and capability. With the CV3 being marketed as an adventure tourer Kymco’s experience of comfort will be a helping hand. The CV3 also allows for the rider to experience the usual agility of a scooter in an urban environment, despite its extra wheel.
One of the features of the CV3 that will impress most riders is the front suspension electronic lock. This feature allows the CV3 to stand by itself with no input from the rider when the bike comes to a stop.
The CV3 also comes equipped with a 550cc twin cylinder engine which produces 50.29 horsepower. With the two power modes of rain and power being equipped on this scooter it allows for the rider to deal with different scenarios that may be experienced while touring. The Kymco Advance Leaning Suspensions (KALS) allows for a maximum lean angle of 40 degrees. Kymco also boast about the handling of the CV3. It is said to have superb handling, apparently it can transition easily and is stable throughout turns. Despite the bike having a heavier front end than a normal two-wheel bike Kymco claim the CV3 is also a bike that can be used day to day in the city like a normal scooter.
Finally, Kymco will offer the CV3 in the "Forest Green" and "Matt Black" colour options, with prices starting at £11,999.
With Kymco clearly wanting to expand into the three-wheel scooter market it is yet to see whether their CV3 project will be able to give other brands like Yamaha a true contest.
