New Italjet Buccaneer 250
A Chinese Italjet?
ON Friday we revealed a European patent of a Chinese V-twin 250 which we speculated could make a reasonably attractive proposition in the metal.
That’s happened sooner than we expected, as these pictures from a recent show in Guangzhou, China, reveal.
It’s the same machine as seen in the patents filed by Longjia except now it’s branded as an Italjet, pointing to a partnership between the Chinese and Italian firms.
It’s called the Buccaneer 250i, sharing its name with the Italjet Buccaneer 125 of ‘70s, a Yamaha-engined twin which scored three victories in the Italian Junior 125 series.
The fact its design is being patented in Europe suggests there may be plans afoot to offer the bike over here.
We’ve asked Italjet for a comment.
