Selected 2020 Indian motorcycles to receive largest engine yet
Indian Motorcycles has announced that certain 2020 touring and bagger models will receive an upgraded 116 Thunder Stroke motor.
Selected Indian Motorcycle models will receive the 116 Thunder Stroke motor as standard. Previously the 116 engine - which is Indians largest powerplant - was only offered as an upgrade to the 111 motor (see below). The 116 is an air-cooled, 1890-cc V-twin engine with an improved high-flow cylinder head and increased torque (170.8Nm from 161Nm). It features Indian’s rear cylinder deactivation for better engine cooling in slow-moving or static traffic. So, no more roasted cheeks and private parts.
The 2020 Indian models this engine will be embedded into include:
The Springfield Dark Horse
Chieftain, Chieftain Dark Horse
Chieftain Limited
Chieftain Elite
Roadmaster
And Roadmaster Dark Horse
The Chief Dark Horse, Chief Vintage, Springfield and Chieftain Classic will maintain the 1811cc Thunder Stroke 111, and the 2020 Chieftain will be available with both engines.
Along with the 116 powerplant, some 2020 models will feature a new quad-core powered ride Ride Command system, which adds traffic and weather overlays and an improved customizable screen. Externally, the seven-inch glove sensitive TFT screen remains unchanged.
