The new BMW R12 G/S has arrived, and it might just be the most versatile model within the R12 family, as it combines a classic roadster presence with off-road adventure riding capabilities.

The German manufacturer’s newest addition to the R12 range comes off the back of its new retro R12 S Cafe Racer, which was unveiled in December. But unlike that bike taking inspiration from the 1970s R90 S, the new roadster/adventure beast takes after the R80 G/S.

The new bike comes with a starting price of £14,420, which is currently more expensive than the £11,990 you will need to fork out for the R12 cruiser, although it is the same price as the £14,420 R12 nineT roadster and considerably cheaper than the R12 S, which comes in at £18,460.

The new BMW R12 G/S comes with a flat solo seat as standard, and the seat height with a 17-inch rear wheel sits at 860mm, while seat height on the Enduro Package Pro comes in at 875mm with an 18-inch rear wheel.

The optional Pillion Package includes a seat for two (standard seat height with 17-inch rear wheel is 860mm once again, while the above figure on the Enduro Package Pro is the same for the two-seater as well.

The basic version of the new BMW R 12 G/S features a footrest system that is designed primarily for on-road use, but it is also suitable for off-road riding. As part of the Enduro Package Pro, the R 12 G/S gets an enduro footrest system for improved grip on the pegs.

Suspension sees a fully adjustable upside-down telescopic fork at the front with a 45mm diameter and 210mm of travel. The same as other R12 family members, the G/S model gets a Paralever swinging arm, while the suspension at the rear has a claimed 200mm of travel, and it includes travel-dependent damping and full adjustability.
