Pol Tarres Reveals “Hardest Crash” he’s Ever Had
Known for his daring off-road riding exploits, normally on a Yamaha Tenere 700, Pol Tarres has spoken out following a nasty crash
The Catalan enduro rider and viral sensation, Pol Tarres, has taken to social media, to reveal details about a serious accident which he describes as the “hardest crash” he’s ever had.
When you see the videos Pol Tarres posts on his social media channels, it’s hard to imagine him ever making a riding mistake or even a slight miscalculation. It turns out though the viral star is as human as you or me, and from the details he’s revealed on Instagram, it sounds like he’s been badly knocked about during this crash.
It happened as Tarres was competing in the Africa Eco Race riding his rally-spec Yamaha Tenere 700 race bike. Details of how the crash occurred are unknown, and as he was knocked unconscious for between five and seven minutes, his own recollection of the events before and after are understandably hazy.
Reports on the Africa Eco Race website state that the crash happened on the second day of the race, at kilometre 111. It goes on to say that a fellow rider, Guillaume Borne, came across the unconscious rider, immediately stopping and calling for help. Tarres was taken care of by the medical helicopter, nursing bruised ribs and leg hematomas. Given the length of time Tarres was knocked unconscious, which is likely his most worrying injury, he’s been forced to abandon the race, instead leaving the event to begin his recovery.
His message on Instagram reads:
“Thanks for all the messages of support
“Yesterday I had the hardest crash I’ve ever had, between 5 and 8 minutes unconscious on the ground, I can’t remember anything, but from the way the bike end up, we belive that it was very hard.
“I am thankful to continue here with you since all the blow was taken by my head and neck. A shame because I was fighting to get to the first position, but you learn from everything and I will come back stronger than ever as always.
“Now I am recovering from the accident but luckily within the damages, I am fine.
A million thanks to all the people who looked after me yesterday, pilots, helicopter, ambulance and my team”
