The French motorcycle helmet maker Shark is teaming up with Sena, as the two companies look to create “specially designed, integrated communications systems to riders and pillions”.

The resulting Sena for Shark range features both Bluetooth and Mesh intercoms designed specifically to be used with the Shark motorcycle helmet range - excluding the FIM-spec Aeron GP.

The ‘Mesh’ intercom system connects up to 24 riders across a range of 1,600 metres in “ideal conditions”, as well as offering you the benefits of calls, music and audible directions while on the move. While Bluetooth systems allow for a smaller group connection (up to four riders) and over a smaller range of around 800 metres.

Both systems boast 40mm speakers and noise cancelling technology as standard, while they are also designed to be waterproof while having a claimed battery life of 15 hours. Both systems can be recharged in around two and a half hours. The units have been designed to match the lines of Shark’s range of lids, meaning the units look quite sleek and a said to take up minimal space on the exterior of the helmet. The buttons to use the two units are quite large, though, so should make it easier to use them when wearing bulky winter gloves.

Both the mesh and Bluetooth versions of the Sena for Shark intercom system are available as either a single unit or a duo for a rider and pillion, and two colours are hitting the market, silver for the mesh system or black for the Bluetooth one.

The Sena for Shark Bluetooth single unit has an RRP of £169.99, while the duo comes in at £299.99. The Mesh system is priced at £199.99 for the single or £359.99 for the duo pack.
