Stunningly Rare Ducati Collection Go To Auction
The six-bike haul includes factory race replicas and a gorgeous 888 SP5 which is No.153 out of 500
A collection of six Ducati models is heading to auction this month, which includes two factory replicas, two limited editions, and two historically important models from the Bologna.
The bikes all hail from a single private collection, and they’ll be heading over the auction block at the National Motorcycle Museum during the H&H Classic Motorcycle Auction. The sale will take place on October 30, just a few days after the NMM celebrates its 40th anniversary with NMM Live.
Topping the list of bikes is a very special-looking 998S Ben Bostrum replica which is number 70 of 155 UK models produced. The bike was produced to celebrate Bostrum’s 2021 WorldSBK campaign when the Californian managed six race wins, including five in a row, on his way to third place in the overall standings.
The bike is to be sold complete with its colour-coded paddock stand, all original carbon fibre parts, toolkit, power commander and a trickle charger. The estimate for the 998S Bostrum replica is between £15,000 and £17,000.
Next up is a newer but no-less desirable factory replica, in the form of a stunning 916 SPS Carl Fogarty Replica. Foggy was a true household name in the 1990s, taking World Superbike by storm and scooping four titles, winning at the Isle of Man TT and even spending three seasons in MotoGP.
It’s this success Ducati wanted to pay tribute to, with the SPS version of the 916 being the perfect place to start. The SPS was released to homologate the latest generation 916 for world championship racing, and new engine casings were used, along with a larger combustion chamber, bigger valves and a lighter crankshaft.
This bike, complete with its titanium exhaust system, has an estimate of placed on it of between £13,000 and £15,000.
The other four bikes in the sale are slightly less eye-catching and come in with much lower and more affordable estimates, they include a 1997 Ducati 900 Superlight, number 44 of 309 produced (£4,500 to £5,500), a low milage 1995 Ducati 748 Biposto (£4,000 to £5,000), a 1993 Ducati 888 SP5 (£14,000 to £16,000) and finally a stunning Ducati 851 from 1990 (the first year of production) which has an estimate of £5,000 to £7,000 placed on it.
