As adventure riding continues to grow in popularity, riders are always looking for safety gear that provides superior protection, comfort and versatility. Arai has you covered! Introducing the all-new Tour-X5 helmet, the latest model which offers uncompromising safety standards and innovative design.

Approved to ECE R22-06 as standard, the helmet boasts a sharper look and offers more comfort than its predecessor whilst reinforcing Arai’s priority for protection. Many features on the Tour-X5 have evolved to provide an even more comfortable riding experience, some of which include:

1. New VAS-A visor system

This new variable axis (VAS-A) visor system allows for easier and faster visor changes. The visor can be attached or removed without the need for any tools. The peak utilises only one screw on each side for removal or installation. Derived from the VAS-V system developed for the RX-7V, the VAS-A visor system has been designed to maximize Glancing-Off performance, meaning more surface area to glance off impact energy whilst offering easy installation and removal of the visor and peak.

2. VAS-A Max-Vision Visor

The visor itself has been redesigned for increased visibility and Glancing-Off performance and is now a Max Vision visor, so a Pinlock insert can easily be installed. The new max-vision visor preserves the wide field of view and high level of visibility expected of the Tour-X5. The Pinlock insert for this model has advanced to be more effective at resisting fogging, even in extreme conditions, across the entire field of view.

3. Enhanced chin bar comfort

The Tour-X5 features a chin bar that is 5mm wider on each side ensuring easy on/off comfort. This design not only makes it safe but convenient for riders.

4. Stay cool in any situation - new 3D Arai logo duct

In addition to the seven other intake and exhaust vents at the front and rear of the helmet is a new addition – the new 3D Arai logo duct. The effectiveness of conventional vents could be limited by the rider’s position but with the front logo duct, airflow is unaffected by changes in riding position.

This duct is possible due to the strength and construction of Arai’s PB-CLC2 (Peripherally Belted Complex Laminated construction) outer shell. Thanks to advances in shell technology, ventilation ducts can be built in the front of the helmet, without compromising protection.

5. Easy communication device installation

The Hyper-Ridge® has been re-sculpted to provide a flat surface on the side of the helmet to allow for the easy installation of a wide range of communication devices. This increases the bonding surface between the device and the helmet and helps to reduce buffeting or possible slip-off. Riders can stay connected, use navigation or listen to music whilst on their adventure.

6. Ultimate comfort, ultimate fit

The interior check pads, interior and neckroll are made from a soft, anti-microbial liner and are fully removable with an adjustable pad at the rear of the crown pad. A redesigned nose deflector will make the use of goggles easy. FCS cheek pads will give a firm fit both on and off-road and are available in various sizes up to 35mm width, offering superior fit and comfort.

3 in 1

As with its predecessor, the helmet remains ultra versatile. The new VAS-A visor system also makes it easier to switch, without tools, to one of the other styles. You can choose between:

  • As it is for adventure riding
  • With peak, no visor and goggles for off-road riding
  • Without a peak, but with a visor for road riding

Alongside the many new features of the new Tour-X5, quality and protection remain at the heart of its design.

It’s handmade - it can take up to five years for our experts to earn the right to create an Arai shell. Each shell can take up to 27 steps and to build one Arai helmet will take about 18 man-hours. This precision and care is embedded throughout its creation.

The organic shape of an Arai outer shell offers a more natural appearance, seals better and conforms more to the head’s natural shape for improved comfort, fit and to help minimize wind turbulence. Alongside this, the smooth and round outer shell is designed to glide without unnecessary resistance. Regardless of brand, there is a limit to how much impact energy any helmet can absorb. Therefore, Arai believes that ‘glancing off’ is essential. Arai believes a strong shell is another essential aspect of our helmets. If the shell were to be deformed or destroyed in an impact, it would be unable to glance off further impacts. A strong shell can extend ‘glancing off’ ability, dissipating as much direct impact energy as possible.

Arai helmets are designed to meet the stringent Arai In-house criteria, in addition to the mandatory ECE standard. Finally, each Arai helmet goes through five separate quality-control departments: after the shell is made, after painting and graphic completion, after assembly and two in-process inspections to ensure the helmet is perfect for riding.

The new helmet is perfect for adventure riders and is available from our dedicated retailers. Whether it be on or off-road, choose a style that matches your riding best and be ready to take on any adventure. Evolved from the latest advancements in protection and comfort along with an easier on/off, this is a true every-ride helmet.
